Masoud Barzani Highlights Positive Ties With Baghdad and Calls for Constitutional Adherence


Baghdad: Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani has affirmed that relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi federal government are currently positive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the Constitution.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani made these comments at the closing ceremony of the 20th session of the KDP Cadres Institute. He reiterated that the primary demand from the Kurdistan Region is the implementation of the constitutional framework.



Barzani also discussed the agreement made between Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri. He stated that the successful implementation of this agreement would be beneficial, and that alternative actions would be considered if it is not upheld.



Addressing regional developments, Barzani described the current situation as highly sensitive and unpredictable. He noted the region’s recent experience with major conflict and credited efforts to protect the Kurdistan Region and its people from severe consequences.



Barzani expressed a commitment to fostering positive relations with all regional parties, asserting that the Kurdistan Region is not in opposition to Iran, Turkey, or any other country. He expressed hope for the cessation of wars and the establishment of peace and stability throughout the region.
