Deputy Manager of Grain Complex Arrested for Extortion in Salah al-Din

Baghdad: The deputy manager of the Al-Ishaqi Grain Complex has been apprehended by the Federal Commission of Integrity for allegedly soliciting bribes and personal benefits in violation of his official duties.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest followed an investigation by a team from the Salah al-Din Investigation Office, prompted by intelligence from the Salah al-Din Intelligence Directorate. The deputy manager is accused of extorting farmers by accepting payments in exchange for processing and receiving their wheat crops.

The Commission revealed that the accused confessed to manipulating wheat classifications, accepting low-quality wheat with impurities, and reaching agreements with farmers for processing truckloads of wheat in return for payments.

A judge at the Salah al-Din Investigation Court, which oversees integrity-related cases, has ordered the detention of the accused under Article 307 of the Penal Code.
