Iraqi Government Reiterates Obligation to Respect Foreign Symbols


Baghdad:The Iraqi government emphasized the importance of respecting the symbols of friendly nations and diplomatic missions within Iraq, highlighting this as both a legal and diplomatic obligation.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sabah al-Nu’man, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, announced the arrest of individuals involved in the desecration of the American flag in Baghdad during the “Sovereignty Day” events. This action was taken under the orders of Ali Falih al-Zaidi, the Commander-in-Chief.



Al-Nu’man stressed that anyone found guilty of participating in such acts would face legal consequences in accordance with Iraqi laws and diplomatic standards. The government reiterated its stance that any offense against the symbols of friendly countries or diplomatic missions would lead to legal accountability.
