Economic Specialist Advocates for Supreme Council for Industry and Investment

Dhaka:An economic specialist has proposed the creation of a Supreme Council for Industry and Investment to address challenges in these sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dhurgham Mohammed Ali emphasized the need for structural economic reforms, highlighting the importance of activating productive sectors such as industry and investment. He pointed out that these areas suffer from neglect, bureaucracy, and a lack of streamlined processes and effective financing, which hinder their growth.

Mohammed Ali stressed the importance of establishing a Supreme Council for Industry and Investment, to be led by the Prime Minister and include relevant ministers from industry, investment, and finance. This council would tackle issues at the highest executive levels and possess planning capabilities that exceed the limitations of individual government tenures.

He further noted that without decisive political will, Iraq’s economy would continue to be overly reliant on oil markets, risking further depletion of its wealth.
