Criminal Network Exploiting Citizens for Organ Trafficking Dismantled

Baghdad:Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (F.I.I.A) detachments, specifically the Organized Crime Unit in Baghdad/Rusafa, have successfully dismantled a dangerous criminal network. This group targeted citizens, driving them into debt and coercing them to sell their organs, particularly kidneys.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was conducted under the direct supervision of the Undersecretary for Federal Intelligence and Investigations Affairs. The network preyed on low-income individuals by offering loans with predatory terms, ultimately forcing them to sell their organs to pay off these debts.

A specialized intelligence task force was formed to address the issue. With proper judicial warrants, the task force arrested all four members of the network, which included two women. During the arrests, mobile phones and records documenting their illegal activities were seized.

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency has committed to continuing its efforts to protect citizens’ security and prevent exploitation by criminal gangs. They have pledged to remain a vigilant force against those who threaten the well-being of the population.
