Accra:Nouri Al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, affirmed that the government is preparing to implement measures to safeguard citizens’ incomes and purchasing power, ensure market stability, and maintain economic activity.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Maliki addressed the division among those concerned with Iraq’s economic affairs regarding the decision to raise the dollar exchange rate, highlighting concerns for citizens’ purchasing power and standard of living.
He explained that adjusting the national currency exchange rate is a measure some countries adopt during economic crises, with success depending on the government’s ability to mitigate negative impacts, protect citizens’ incomes, and limit market repercussions.
Al-Maliki emphasized the need for the government to announce solutions swiftly and prevent the burden of these measures from falling on citizens. He also warned against using this situation as a pretext to create anxiety or disrupt the atmosphere, stressing the importance of protecting individual income and living standards to reinforce economic stability.
