Prime Minister Emphasizes Unity for Confronting Threats in Islamic Discourse

Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has urged for a unified Islamic stance to confront the risks and threats currently facing the Muslim world.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi addressed the heads of delegations at the 52nd session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baghdad, emphasizing the importance of strengthening communication and ties among Islamic nations. He highlighted the need to unify and reinforce the Islamic position and discourse to reflect the true identity of Islam amidst ongoing threats, particularly the suffering in Gaza.

Al-Zaidi noted the significant human and natural resources within the Islamic world, pointing out that it holds 70% of global energy resources and important waterways. However, he remarked that these advantages have not been fully leveraged. He proposed creating a platform for Islamic products, tailored to the production specializations of each country, and emphasized shared security among Islamic nations and cooperation in combating drug issues.

He also highlighted the pressing issue of unemployment, with approximately 400 million Muslims without jobs, and stressed the importance of labor market integration. He called for cooperation in energy security through interconnected energy grids and transport networks, as well as the integration of industrial zones, an initiative launched by Iraq at the OIC meetings.
