Baghdad Operations Command Implements Security Measures for Upcoming Tahrir Square Protests

Baghdad:The Baghdad Operations Command has announced the initiation of security and organizational measures to protect the peaceful demonstrations scheduled for Sunday at Tahrir Square.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the command stated that these measures are in line with directives from the Prime Minister and recommendations from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The aim is to ensure the safety and security of the demonstrators and to safeguard public and private property during the protests set for October 25, 2026.

The measures include thorough searches of individuals near roads leading to Tahrir Square to maintain a high level of security while respecting human rights principles and public order. Importantly, the command emphasized that roads to Tahrir Square will remain open unless a closure is authorized from the command’s headquarters.

Additionally, the movement of tuk-tuks and motorcycles will be prohibited on major expressways and roads leading to Tahrir Square starting at midnight on Saturday. The command urged demonstrators to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to the instructions for their safety.
