Baghdad: Iraq’s National Security Adviser, Qasim al-Araji, underscored the importance of advancing intelligence operations in accordance with modern professional standards to enhance the country’s capacity to confront ongoing security challenges.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji met on Monday with the head of the National Intelligence Cell, Major General Hussein al-Zarkani. The meeting included a comprehensive review of the cell’s performance and its mandated tasks within the framework of the national security system.
The statement added that the session featured a detailed briefing on the cell’s key intelligence activities, methods of information collection and analysis, and the level of coordination with relevant security agencies. These efforts, it is noted, are aimed at supporting the overall security apparatus and strengthening the state’s ability to counter various threats.
Both sides stressed the need to further enhance intelligence performance in line with evolving security developments, adopting well-structured and proactive plans to anticipate and mitigate risks. Such measures, they affirmed, would contribute to reinforcing security and stability while safeguarding citizens and state institutions.
Al-Araji also emphasized the importance of sustaining a unified team spirit and deepening coordination among all branches of the security establishment to achieve national security strategic objectives and preserve existing gains.
