Al-Dahlaki Hails Federal Court Decision on General Amnesty Law

Baghdad: The Head of the Azm Alliance in Diyala Governorate, MP Raad Al-Dahlaki, expressed approval of the Federal Supreme Court’s recent decision to dismiss an appeal concerning three significant laws, including the general amnesty law. Al-Dahlaki remarked that the court’s decision aligns with the appeals from those unjustly imprisoned, considering it a response to the calls of the oppressed.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Supreme Court announced its decision on Tuesday to dismiss the appeal filed against the general amnesty law, along with laws concerning personal status and real estate restitution. The court also revoked a previous order that had suspended their implementation.

Earlier, on February 4, the Federal Court had issued an order to halt the enforcement of these laws. However, this decision was contested by the Supreme Judicial Council, which maintained that the implementation of the laws would proceed, emphasizing that the Federal Court’s decision was not mandatory for the competent courts to follow.
