Baghdad: Al-Fawadi calls for activating the Iraqi role in bringing together the viewpoints between Iran and the Gulf states. The head of the political bureau of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, MP Haider al-Fawadi, urged the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance Iraq’s diplomatic efforts in bridging the gap between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He emphasized the importance of supporting dialogue and reducing regional tensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Fawadi highlighted Iraq’s established relations and shared interests with various countries in the region, suggesting that these could facilitate a positive role in fostering dialogue and understanding between Iran and the GCC countries. He noted that regional stability is crucial for Iraq in terms of security, economy, and politics. Therefore, Baghdad is committed to serving as a bridge for communication and dialogue, rather than a battleground for regional conflicts.

Al-Fawadi underscored the significance of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopting an effective diplomatic vision. This vision should leverage Iraq’s relationships with all parties and contribute to building regional understandings grounded in respect for sovereignty, shared interests, and de-escalation. He asserted that fostering rapprochement among regional countries would have a beneficial impact on Iraq’s security and stability, while also opening broader opportunities for economic, trade, and investment cooperation. This, he concluded, requires an active Iraqi role in efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote dialogue.
