Baghdad: The head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Faleh al-Fayyad, affirmed that "the fatwa of sufficient defense created the epic victory over ISIS." In a statement commemorating the anniversary of Victory Day on December 10, al-Fayyad reflected on Iraq's momentous triumph over ISIS, highlighting the heroic efforts and sacrifices made by the nation's security forces and citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Fayyad emphasized that Iraq now stands proudly before the world, remembering a day marked by the sacrifices of men and women who risked their lives in defense of their nation's land, honor, and holy sites. He noted that the victory over ISIS is more than a historical milestone; it serves as an enduring testament to the unity and resilience of the Iraqi people. He credited the decisive role played by the fatwa of sufficient defense issued by His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, which he said had awakened a deep sense of pride, valor, and faith among Iraqis, inspiring them to achieve a victory that will remain etched in the national memory.
