Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi met with the head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, to discuss the political situation in the country and the importance of activating the oversight and legislative roles of Parliament.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Halbousi’s office indicated that the Speaker received the head of the Supreme Council on Tuesday evening. During the meeting, they addressed the political atmosphere and the need for coordination and cooperation between parliamentary blocs to pass significant laws that impact the lives and aspirations of citizens.

Both leaders stressed the importance of resolving constitutional entitlements, highlighting the necessity for effective legislative action in the current political climate.
