Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi met with Ghulam Mohammad Ishaq Zai, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq and UN Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, to discuss the role of international organizations in supporting Iraq after the conclusion of the UN mission. The discussion centered around the priorities within the UN framework for sustainable development and areas where technical assistance can support Iraq’s national development goals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Halbousi’s media office highlighted that the meeting also explored ways to continue cooperation on finalizing and approving priority legislation. This legislation is aimed at aligning Iraq’s national laws with its international obligations.
