Baghdad: Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Heibat Al-Halbousi, reaffirmed Iraq’s stance against the use of its territory or airspace to threaten neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia. This was communicated during a phone call with Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, on Sunday.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Media Office of the Speaker of the Council of Representatives issued a statement detailing the conversation between Al-Halbousi and Al-Sheikh. The discussion encompassed bilateral relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest. During the call, Al-Halbousi expressed his condemnation of recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and reiterated Iraq’s firm position against allowing its land or airspace to be used in threatening actions towards the Kingdom or any neighboring nation.

The statement highlighted Al-Halbousi’s emphasis on how such actions contradict Iraq’s policies and its relationships with fellow nations in the region. He stressed the importance of maintaining a harmonious and peaceful relationship with Iraq’s neighbors and reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to regional security.

In response, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh expressed appreciation for Iraq’s stance and emphasized the strong fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. He reiterated the commitment to enhancing and developing these relations for the benefit of both countries and their people. Al-Sheikh commended Iraq’s position on rejecting any threats to the Kingdom’s security and stability, underscoring the importance of unity and cooperation in safeguarding regional peace.
