Baghdad: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, met with his Turkish counterpart, Numan Kurtulmus, on Tuesday to discuss prospects for developing cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Speaker’s media office stated in a press release that “Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi met today with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus, at the Assembly’s headquarters in Ankara.”
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, and an exchange of views on a number of issues and files of common interest.
The statement further mentioned that the meeting is scheduled to be followed by extensive talks between the Iraqi and Turkish parliamentary delegations. These discussions aim to explore prospects for developing cooperation between the two legislative bodies in a way that contributes to strengthening relations between the two countries and achieving the interests of the two friendly peoples.
