Al-Maliki Urges End to Vilification Campaigns Among Media and Politicians

Baghdad: Nouri Al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, called on Friday for bloggers, media, and politicians to cease campaigns of mutual vilification.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Maliki issued a statement urging all bloggers, media professionals, media organizations, and politicians to stop attacking one another and avoid airing so-called ‘laundry’ or circulating fabricated and manipulated accusations. He emphasized that such actions do not improve the situation or change reality for the better; instead, they worsen relations that are meant to remain fraternal and sincere.

Al-Maliki added that while it is natural to have differences in ideas and positions, it is crucial to maintain a respectful tone. He stressed the importance of placing Iraq’s interest above all disputes and using discourse as a means of calming tensions and fostering rapprochement, rather than creating new sources of discord and division.
