Moscow:Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian assured Russian President Vladimir Putin that Iran is capable of resolving and settling the region’s issues independently. This declaration came following a meeting between the two leaders after the eighth summit of gas-exporting countries in Moscow.
According to Iraqi News Agency, President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran does not need to rely on the United States to address regional problems. He mentioned that U.S. actions in the region are prompting Iran to strengthen its cooperation with Russia and expand its relations with other countries facing sanctions.
Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s readiness to enhance its relationship with Russia across various sectors, including science, economy, industry, culture, security, and military. He also announced his consent to the establishment of a representative office for the Russian state broadcasting organization in Iran, with only the final coordination steps remaining.
President Putin, in turn, expressed Russia’s commitment to shared interests with Iran and a hope that the regional situation will develop positively. He confirmed that Russia is meeting all its commitments concerning joint projects with Iran. Furthermore, Putin noted a 10.4% increase in trade turnover between Russia and Iran in the first eight months of the year, and ongoing work on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran.
