Basra: Al-Minaa snatched a valuable point from their guest Naft Maysan, securing a 1-1 draw in stoppage time during their match this evening at Al-Fayhaa Stadium in Basra, as part of the sixth round of the Iraqi Premier League.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first half saw a cautious start from both teams, before Al-Minaa gained the upper hand, creating a slight advantage and threatening Naft Maysan’s goal on several occasions. However, their efforts failed to produce a goal, and the first half ended in a goalless draw.
At the start of the second half, Al-Minaa continued their pressure, searching for the opening goal. However, Naft Maysan capitalized on a counter-attack, with Daouda finding the net in the 51st minute, giving his team the lead.
Al-Minaa then launched a series of attacks, besieging the visitors’ goal. However, Naft Maysan’s goalkeeper, Ali Khalid, made several excellent saves, preserving his team’s lead amidst clear midfield dominance by the home side, while the visitors relied on counter-attacks.
As the match drew to a close, Yassine Samia salvaged the situation, scoring the equalizer in the second minute of stoppage time, ending the encounter in a 1-1 draw and earning each team a point from the sixth round.
