Al-Qabanchi Urges Iraqi Government to Address Airspace Violations and Strengthen Regional Ties

Najaf:Najaf Friday prayer leader, Sadr al-Din al-Qabanchi, has urged the Iraqi government to take an official stance on the ongoing violations of Iraqi airspace by Israeli aircraft and aerial refueling planes. Al-Qabanchi emphasized that these actions represent a breach of Iraq’s sovereignty.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Qabanchi also supported the recent passage of the Jaafari Personal Status Law, highlighting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar’s recognition of the Jaafari school of jurisprudence as the fifth Islamic school. This recognition validates the use of its rulings in addressing family-related issues.

Al-Qabanchi further insisted on the importance of maintaining strong relations with Iran, cautioning against yielding to foreign pressure to sanction Tehran. He stressed the need to avoid conflict with the international community and noted the significance of the four-party meeting in Tehran, which aimed to enhance regional cooperation and address regional issues collaboratively.

Additionally, Al-Qabanchi described Kuwait as a friendly nation, underscoring the bonds of neighborhood, identity, and mutual interests. He called for a review of the recent death sentences handed down against several religious scholars.
