Al-Sadr Urges Saudi Arabia to Rebuild Al-Baqi’ Shrines

Baghdad: Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, has called upon Saudi Arabia to reconstruct the shrines and graves of the Imams of Al-Baqi’ in Medina. Al-Sadr emphasized the importance of fostering moderation and love to combat extremism and fanaticism.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr made his appeal through a post on the X platform. He referred to the historical incident of the eighth of Shawwal, which marked the destruction of the graves at Al-Baqi’. Al-Sadr warned against those who threaten to demolish the grave of the Prophet Muhammad, invoking a verse from the Quran to caution against such actions.

In his post, al-Sadr reiterated his plea to Saudi Arabia, highlighting its advocacy for moderation. He urged the kingdom to rebuild the graves in a manner that aligns with divine approval and quoted Quranic verses to support his call. Al-Sadr stressed the significance of uniting in the love of the Prophet’s family and companions to mitigate the risks of extremism and promote harmony among followers.
