Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a meeting today that included the Minister of Trade, the Director General of the General Company for Grain Trade, and several advisors, focusing on plans for marketing and receiving grains.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister of Trade presented the Ministry’s plans for the upcoming marketing season. The discussion involved mechanisms and pricing strategies for the internal sale and purchase of wheat. The possibility of exporting surplus grain was also examined, considering the readiness of some countries to import it, alongside the export of other Iraqi products.

The meeting further addressed the capacity of government and private mills, the potential construction of new silos, and the feasibility of these projects being undertaken by the government or in collaboration with the private sector. The discussion also covered the Ministry’s current storage capacity and its implications for future operations.
