Karbala: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani concluded his visit to the Karbala Governorate, during which he engaged in several significant activities aimed at enhancing infrastructure and services in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani chaired meetings to address the security and service preparations for the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage. This involved scrutinizing the plans to ensure a safe and efficient pilgrimage experience for participants. Furthermore, al-Sudani oversaw the launch of a water project in the southern part of Karbala, which is designed to provide 16,000 cubic meters of water per hour, as well as the first phase of the Imam Hussein Roundabout project, extending 9.2 kilometers.

In addition to these projects, the Prime Minister inaugurated an electrical transformer station in the southern region of Old Karbala with a capacity of 180 megawatts. This was complemented by launching power lines and projects aimed at alleviating congestion in the electrical grid and distribution stations. Further efforts in the energy sector included the inauguration of the Al-Kifl transformer station and the expansion of tire stations in Najaf, northern Hillah, and Old Diwaniyah, along with pivotal power supply projects aimed at reducing congestion in the national grid across the Middle Euphrates governorates.

Al-Sudani also initiated implementation work on five major projects associated with the Union Group, valued at $2 billion, to boost livestock production. These projects include a dairy plant with a capacity of 3,000 tons per day, a meat production plant processing 1,500 heads of cattle daily, a cow farm housing 195,000 cows producing 4 million liters of milk per day, a beef cattle farm with a capacity of 100,000 cattle annually, and a fish farming project capable of producing 300 tons per day.
