Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting on Wednesday focused on the progress and challenges of the Baghdad Metro project. The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Mayor of Baghdad, the head of the Iraq Development Fund, and several advisors.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting reviewed the fourth report on the project, which was developed by the Development Fund in collaboration with international institutions and companies experienced in metro projects in Turkey and China. The discussions included the proposed investment portfolios featured in the report, as well as the technical and implementation risks involved.
The attendees also examined previously submitted proposals for the project. A comprehensive reassessment by the Municipality, the Development Fund, and consulting firms found that these proposals did not fulfill the necessary conditions for launching a project of this magnitude.
