Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met today at his residence in Paris with TotalEnergies Chairman Patrick Pouyann© and his accompanying delegation. The high-level meeting focused on reviewing TotalEnergies’ strategic projects in Iraq, with a particular emphasis on the gas sector.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the discussion highlighted the Iraqi government’s plans to expand the utilization of associated gas to achieve self-sufficiency. Additionally, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi shared the government’s ambition to increase Iraq’s oil production over the next five years, aiming for a production level of 10 million barrels per day. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the national economy and support development plans.

The Prime Minister also announced that work has already commenced on expanding oil exploration in Iraq. This initiative is designed to further bolster economic growth. Furthermore, preparations are underway for an international energy conference set to be held in Baghdad, underscoring Iraq’s commitment to advancing its energy sector.

Patrick Pouyann©, Chairman of TotalEnergies, expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with Iraq in enhancing the oil and energy sectors. He noted that TotalEnergies currently has significant oil investments in Iraq, amounting to $12 billion, and plans to increase these investments to $16 billion in the future.
