Basra: An ammonia gas leak at a fertilizer plant in the Khor al-Zubair area of Basra Governorate has resulted in several workers suffering from asphyxiation injuries. The incident has also left some employees trapped inside the plant’s workshops.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, ambulance crews quickly arrived at the site and successfully evacuated the injured workers, transporting them to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. The workers experienced asphyxiation after inhaling the leaked gas.

The source further revealed that efforts are still underway to rescue additional employees who remain trapped inside the plant. Authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of all personnel involved in this hazardous situation.
