Salalah: The Arab Cities Conference in the Sultanate of Oman concluded with active participation from Iraq. During the 64th meeting of the Executive Council and the 20th General Conference of the Arab Towns Organization, representatives from various Arab cities convened over two days in Salalah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iraq was represented by the Mayor of Baghdad, Engineer Ammar Musa Kadhim, the Governor of Kirkuk, Muhammad Saman Agha, and the Iraqi Ambassador to Oman, Qais Al-Amiri. A significant highlight was the presentation of the initiative “Volunteer Work and Community Participation – The Iraqi Experience,” which received approval from the attending mayors and city heads. This initiative will be launched by Baghdad and implemented across the Arab world for one year under the Arab Towns Organization’s framework.

The Governor of Kirkuk noted that their participation was supported by the Prime Minister and aimed at fostering cooperation among Arab cities. The initiative is expected to establish volunteer work and community participation as a sustainable approach to serving communities and cities, thereby enhancing Iraq’s regional, Arab, and international presence.
