Baghdad: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized today that Iraq and the Gulf countries will be briefed on the new maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Araghchi mentioned the agenda for Monday’s meeting in the Sultanate of Oman, which centers on the new maritime route in the strategic waterway. The announcement underscores Iran’s plans to inform neighboring countries about changes in navigation through the strait.

He further highlighted that Iran’s condition for reopening the Strait of Hormuz hinges on the return of the United States to its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum. The briefing in Oman will serve as a platform for Iran to update Iraq and the Gulf nations on the developments regarding the new route.
