Atletico madrid: Atletico Madrid scored two late goals to begin their La Liga campaign with a 2-0 victory over Malaga at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium last night, in the first round of the competition.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the home side dominated the match, enjoying a clear advantage for much of the game, but had to wait until the second half to convert their dominance into goals after a goalless first half.
South Korean Kang-in Lee opened the scoring for Atletico Madrid in the 70th minute with a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area, following an individual effort, giving Diego Simeone’s team a lead.
Atletico continued to press for a second goal, and Alex Baena sealed the victory in the 85th minute with a right-footed free kick.
Malaga were unable to get back into the game in the remaining minutes, and Atletico Madrid held on to their lead until the final whistle, securing their first three points of the new season.
