Babil: After nearly three years of evading capture, police forces in Babil Governorate successfully arrested a woman accused of premeditated murder in the Mahawil district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was executed by a specialized team from the Mahawil Anti-Crime Division, which operates under the North Babil Anti-Crime Department. The woman was wanted for a murder committed in the Hashimiya district almost three years ago. Colonel Ammar al-Shammari, Babil Police Media Director, emphasized that this arrest was the result of continuous efforts involving surveillance, investigation, and field monitoring of the suspect’s movements and whereabouts.

Colonel al-Shammari explained that during her time on the run, the accused tried to evade capture by frequently changing locations. Despite her efforts to mislead the authorities, investigative procedures and thorough information gathering allowed the police to narrow down her whereabouts.

A turning point in the investigation occurred when a police officer provided a security tip confirming the suspect’s presence in the Al-Mahawil district. This prompted an operational emergency plan, executed with precise security procedures, leading to her eventual arrest. She was then transferred to the Al-Hashimiyah Anti-Crime Division, which holds territorial jurisdiction over the case, to ensure the necessary legal actions are taken and investigations are completed in accordance with due process.
