Babylon: The Martyr Colonel Abdul Khalif checkpoint, under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Checkpoint Affairs in the Babylon Governorate Police Command, has successfully apprehended a wanted individual during routine security checks at checkpoints.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Babylon Police Media Director Colonel Ammar al-Shammari explained that the arrest took place while a man, identified as a laborer born in 1981 and residing in Diyala, was subjected to security screening. His personal details were cross-referenced with central security databases, which revealed the presence of two outstanding arrest warrants against him.
Colonel al-Shammari detailed that the first warrant was issued under Article 405 of the Iraqi Penal Code by the Diyala Criminal Court/Second Panel. The second warrant was issued under Article 432 by the Baquba Investigation Department, tied to the Diyala Police/Baquba Division/al-Tahrir Police Station. This discovery prompted the immediate commencement of legal proceedings.
Additionally, Colonel al-Shammari mentioned that a formal arrest report was prepared, and the relevant authorities were informed. The suspect was subsequently transferred to the appropriate center to complete extradition procedures in line with established legal protocols.
