Baghdad: The Ozone Unit at the Baghdad Environment Directorate, Ministry of Environment, has undertaken a comprehensive field survey at Ishtar Private Hospital and Al-Wathiq Private Hospital, located in the Karrada district, to catalogue and update data concerning ozone-depleting substances. The focus was on the gases utilized in refrigeration and air conditioning systems within these medical facilities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Baghdad Environment Director Sadiq Al-Moussawi explained that the survey aimed to record detailed information on hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and other ozone-depleting gases. This included identifying the types and quantities of gases used, as well as examining their storage and maintenance procedures. The effort was executed in collaboration with the relevant staff at both hospitals.

Al-Moussawi emphasized that this survey is a crucial component of the Ozone Unit’s work plan, which is designed to update the national database of ozone-depleting substances. The initiative aims to enhance the monitoring of these substances, thereby supporting Iraq’s national commitments to international environmental agreements.
