Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities for Arts Affairs, Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, has emphasized the significance of the Baghdad International Book Fair in showcasing the dynamism of Iraqi culture and its resurgence on the global stage. He noted that the substantial public attendance at the fair, coupled with the Ministry’s own contributions, underscores Iraq’s enduring cultural vibrancy and its ability to reclaim its influential role in the arts and literature.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani, during his tour of the Ministry’s pavilion at the event, remarked on the fair’s successful international participation, which, alongside the enthusiastic public turnout, highlights the Iraqi populace’s dedication to reading and their continuous pursuit of knowledge. He pointed out that this engagement offers a positive portrayal of the Iraqi community’s cultural awareness and their enduring relationship with literature.

Al-Sudani further stated that the Ministry’s involvement, through a consolidated pavilion encompassing various departments focused on publishing and knowledge dissemination, marks a critical effort in unifying cultural initiatives. This move not only strengthens the Ministry’s visibility in the cultural domain but also ensures that a diverse array of publications is accessible to the fair’s attendees.

The 27th iteration of the Baghdad International Book Fair includes contributions from over 600 publishing houses representing 28 countries from both the Arab world and beyond, offering a vast array of titles spanning literary, intellectual, scientific, and cultural genres.
