Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has announced the closure of three unlicensed and non-compliant factories, along with the arrest of two of their owners.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command issued a statement emphasizing the importance of protecting citizens’ health and safety. The closure is part of the efforts by a committee established by Diwani Order (241285), which aims to reduce environmental pollution. The committee, working alongside detachments from the National Security Service, the Karkh Environmental Police, the Karkh Environment Directorate, and the Karkh Health Control Directorate, inspected various facilities. As a result, three factories producing granules, dairy products, and soft drinks were found to be in violation of health and environmental regulations and standards set by the Ministries of Health and Environment.
The inspections led to the shutdown of these non-compliant factories, which were deemed a threat to public health and safety. The operations took place in the Al-Taji district, north of Baghdad, where two of the factory owners were apprehended. The authorities emphasized their commitment to continue monitoring and inspecting facilities to ensure compliance with regulations, thereby safeguarding the well-being of the community.
