Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has taken decisive action against food safety violations by closing several warehouses and shops after discovering food items unfit for human consumption.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the closures were part of a series of precautionary measures aimed at preventing the spread of diseases and safeguarding public health. Units from the 1st Federal Police Division provided essential support to detachments from the Organized Crime Directorate, Economic Security, Ministry of Health, and Health Control Division. These groups collaborated to rigorously inspect and monitor food storage facilities and shops that were not compliant with Ministry of Health regulations.
The operations led to the shutdown of numerous establishments in the Rusafa district, where authorities seized and destroyed significant quantities of unsafe food. The destruction was carried out following proper procedures and in the presence of the shop and warehouse owners, ensuring transparency and accountability.
