Baghdad Operations: Extinguishing a Fire in One of the Rooms of the Internal Departments in the Zaafaraniya Area

Baghdad: Baghdad Operations Command announced today the extinguishing of a fire in one of the rooms of the internal departments in the Zaafaraniya area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, social media platforms and media agencies had circulated news reporting suffocation cases among students due to a fire in the internal departments of the Technical Engineering College in Zaafaraniya. The Command clarified that the fire occurred inside one of the students' dormitories at the Middle Technical University, specifically at the Al-Hikma Internal Complex for Students, located in the Zaafaraniya area next to Rusafa.

The statement further detailed that the Civil Defense Directorate patrols promptly responded to the incident, successfully controlling and extinguishing the fire. Fortunately, there were no human casualties, although the fire did result in minor material damage. The Rustamiya Police Station has adopted the incident for further investigation.

The Command identified the cause of the fire as an electrical short circuit in one of the halls. It urged satellite channels and media agencies to ensure accuracy in transmitting information and to verify news from official sources.
