Barcelona:Barcelona faced another challenge in their recent 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid as key defender Xavi Espart was forced to leave the field due to injury in the 29th minute of the first El Clasico of the 2026/27 season.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Espart, who had been experiencing discomfort in his soleus muscle prior to the match, was substituted after his condition worsened following contact with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. An injection was administered before the game to help him play, but he could not continue.

Alejandro Balde replaced the young defender, with Joao Cancelo moving to the right-back position. The club now awaits medical evaluations to determine the severity of Espart’s injury and the potential duration of his absence, adding to the challenges faced by coach Hansi Flick in managing defensive options.
