Baghdad: The Deputy Governor of Basra, Hassan Thahir Al-Najjar, engaged in a significant meeting with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Basra, Chen Peijun, focusing on expanding joint cooperation and training personnel in specialized courses across vital sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was also attended by Basra Agriculture Director Hadi Al-Hassan. Al-Najjar shared insights from his recent visit to China, where a Basra delegation participated in a modern irrigation techniques course last month. He expressed appreciation for the Chinese government’s efforts, alongside the Ministries of Commerce and Water Resources, in sponsoring and organizing the course both scientifically and logistically.

Al-Najjar highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and expertise exchange in various areas, aiming to bolster relations between Iraq and China. He emphasized that Basra’s local government is committed to developing infrastructure and executing crucial projects to enhance citizen services.

The Chinese Consul General, Chen Peijun, revealed plans for additional workshops and training courses in the coming year, with Basra poised to play a significant role due to its status as Iraq’s economic capital.
