Basra: The Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, met with a delegation from the Iranian Esteghlal FC at their residence to express his support for their upcoming match against Qatari club Al-Sadd at the Basra Sports City Stadium on Monday. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was attended by Dr. Aqeel Al-Fariji, the head of the security committee in the Basra Provincial Council, who was also present to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. The Iranian Esteghlal FC, who arrived in Basra yesterday, is preparing for the AFC Champions League group stage match, which will also see participation from an Omani refereeing team tasked with officiating the game.
