Basra: Basra police arrested an accused of stealing a bag containing a sum of money belonging to employees of the Electricity Collection Department, while they were on their way to deposit the collected amounts in Rafidain Bank.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command stated in a statement: “A specialized team was formed under the command of the Director of the Crime Control Department and Basra SWAT Regiment, which included an elite group of officers, members and information detachments, to collect evidence and analyze surveillance camera recordings, which led to identifying the accused and his location.”

It added: “After accurate investigation and follow-up operations, the force was able to arrest the thief, who confessed to committing the crime and seizing an amount of 37 million dinars.”
