Baghdad: After stealing a retiree's pension card and using it to withdraw a loan, a transaction facilitator was arrested in Basra. The Basra police apprehended the individual who had deceived the retiree by claiming to assist with pension arrears.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command announced in a press release that officers from the Al-Baradhiya police station captured the suspect involved in the fraudulent scheme. The suspect had taken the retiree's pension card under false pretenses and subsequently used it to secure a loan, effectively defrauding the retiree.

The authorities confirmed that legal actions have been initiated against the suspect, and he has been referred to the judiciary for further proceedings.
