London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed the latest impact of US tariffs during a phone call on Sunday with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and German Christian Democratic Union leader Friedrich Merz.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the British Prime Minister’s Office stated that all officials agreed that this is a new era for the global economy, and Europe must rise to the occasion and ensure its impact is minimized on the working class, while working closely with other countries to maintain broader economic stability.

The British Prime Minister affirmed his disappointment with the new tariffs, noting that he will continue to act in line with the UK’s national interests.

Starmer emphasized the need to move forward with his plans to strengthen the UK economy and ensure it is as resilient as possible to withstand these types of global shocks, adding that it will be important for the UK to strengthen its trade relations with other countries around the world at the same time.

It is worth noting that the US administration has imposed a 10 percent tariff on imports of British goods into the United States, as well as a 25 percent tariff on British cars.
