Baghdad: Civil Defense authorities have reported the tragic recovery of a worker’s body and the successful rescue of 12 others after the roof of a building under construction collapsed in the Al-Ataifiya area of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Civil Defense Directorate announced that the incident occurred during concrete pouring work after midnight on Thursday. The collapse resulted in the death of one worker and varying injuries to 12 others. The incident took place on the Karkh side of Baghdad, prompting immediate action from rescue teams.

The Civil Defense Directorate stated in a press release that their rescue teams promptly mobilized upon receiving the report. They managed to recover the body of the deceased worker and secured the extraction of the injured individuals. The injured were provided with first aid on-site before being transferred to nearby hospitals for necessary treatment.

The press release further indicated that an investigation has been launched to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the collapse.
