Baghdad: Massive wildfires in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan have destroyed more than 400 homes and buildings, forcing authorities to evacuate more than 9,000 people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Regina Leader-Post reported on May 30 that the provincial government declared a state of emergency due to the rapid spread of the fires, which necessitated the evacuation of more than 8,000 people at the time.

Provincial Premier Scott Moe stated that the number of evacuees could rise to 15,000 in the coming days.

The latest data from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency indicates that there are 21 active fires in the region, including eight that remain out of control.

It’s worth noting that the Canadian wildfire season began on May 3 with the first outbreaks in Alberta, and the fires quickly spread to other areas.

On May 13, a wildfire swept across northwest Manitoba, scorching an estimated 42,000 hectares. Several Canadian provinces continue to suffer from scattered fires.
