Khor al-zubair: Civil Defense teams, including rescue units and the Hazardous Materials Incident Response Team (CBRN), have effectively contained a significant ammonia gas leak at the General Company for Southern Fertilizer Industries in the Khor Al-Zubair area of Basra Governorate. The facility is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, field efforts resulted in the rescue of 10 employees from inside the company facilities. Tragically, the bodies of two workers were recovered after succumbing to the incident. Approximately 50 people who experienced asphyxiation were provided immediate medical attention and transported by ambulances from the Civil Defense Directorate and the Ministry of Health to receive necessary care.

Initial investigations suggest that the incident was caused by an accidental gas leak. Specialized teams were deployed to take all necessary measures to secure the site and fully contain the situation.
