Baghdad: Iraqi Civil Defense teams recovered the body of a worker and rescued 12 others after the roof of a building under construction collapsed in Baghdad’s Al-Atifiya area, the Civil Defense Directorate reported.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the directorate stated that the incident resulted in the death of one worker and injuries to 12 others when the building’s roof collapsed while concrete was being poured shortly after midnight on Thursday. The collapse occurred in Al-Atifiya, on the Karkh side of the capital.
Civil Defense rescue teams promptly responded to the incident report, recovering the deceased worker’s body and evacuating those injured. The teams administered first aid at the scene before transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.
An official investigation has been launched to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the collapse, as noted in the statement.
