Washington: Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attacked President Donald Trump, describing him as an “Olympic champion of lying” and accusing him of misleading the American people about the war in the Middle East.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Clinton said in remarks carried by US media outlets: “Trump is an Olympic champion of lying. He lies about everything. He lies just for the sake of lying.” She added: “But when it comes to the health of the people, when it comes to our soldiers, our air force, our Marines, our sailors, all of whom are in the Middle East, when it’s just a lie, that’s something the American people should not tolerate.”

Clinton’s remarks came at a time when the Trump administration is facing sharp criticism regarding transparency in its handling of the war with Iran, especially after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutenick admitted last Thursday that 18 American service members had been killed and more than 750 others wounded, after previously denying any American casualties in the conflict.
