Baghdad: Alaa Al-Mandlawi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, emphasized on Wednesday the Council’s dedication to reinforcing the foundations of the democratic system.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandlawi made a statement highlighting the Council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen democracy in Iraq. He stated, “On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy, we reaffirm our steadfast commitment to consolidating the foundations of the democratic system, protecting pluralism and freedom of expression, and promoting the peaceful transfer of power.”

Al-Mandlawi further elaborated on the Council’s vision, saying, “Empowering the national will is our path toward consolidating stability and building a state of institutions and the rule of law-one that guarantees the rights of all citizens and safeguards their dignity.” This statement underscores the Council’s focus on ensuring a democratic framework that supports the rights and freedoms of Iraqi citizens.
