Dana Gas Halts Natural Gas Exports From Kormor Field To Power Plants

Erbil: The Ministries of Electricity and Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Region announced on Saturday that Dana Gas has halted natural gas exports from the Kormor field to power plants.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a joint statement from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Electricity stated that “due to the unusual circumstances and clashes in the region, and out of concern for the safety of workers at the Kormor field, Dana Gas has suspended natural gas exports to power generation plants.”

The statement explained that “as a result, electricity production capacity will decrease by between 2,500 and 3,000 megawatts,” noting that “the Ministry of Electricity is working to minimize the impact of this production shortfall on citizens by utilizing alternative energy sources.”
