Baghdad: The Ministry of Defense on Tuesday issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the suicide of the commander of the 63rd Brigade of the 1st Special Forces Division inside his office at Taji Camp.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Ministry spokesperson Major General Yahiya Rasool stated that the ministry wished to shed light on the details surrounding the suicide of Colonel Mushtaq Ali Obeid Al-Bahadli, commander of the 63rd Brigade of the 1st Special Forces Division, inside his office at Taji Camp.

He emphasized that the relevant legal and procedural measures were taken immediately following the incident. Specialized authorities and forensic teams promptly arrived at the scene to commence examination, investigation, and evidence-gathering procedures aimed at accurately determining the circumstances and causes of the incident.

The ministry assured that the findings of the investigation and the technical procedures being conducted by the relevant authorities would be made public upon the completion of the investigations.
